Hello guys! I hope everyone had a great holiday so far. I definitely enjoyed mine a lot. It’s a brand new year & I definitely have a lot in mind to archive this 2017! 😀
I feel Fall & Winter wouldn’t be complete without a post about dark lip colours. I am definitely a lipstick junkie hence over the years I’ve definitely bought way too much lipsticks. So let’s quickly jump right into it! 🙂
First lipstick I would like to mention is from Maybelline. It’s the Matte Color Sensational in the shade “Nude Nuance.” I’ve been eyeing on Mac’s Whirl but I didn’t really want to splurge on one & I saw on Pinterest that this shade is a dupe so of course I had to get it.
This lipstick smells vanilla-ish and the scent does not linger very long if that’s what that concerns you. Even though it’s a matte formula but it isn’t too drying on the lips, fairly comfortable. & if you are venturing/new to dark lip colour I definitely highly recommend to start with this shade. 🙂
It’s a brown tone lip colour that I think suits all skin tone. If you are looking for a budget lipstick and do not want to splurge on an expensive one, definitely check out Maybelline Colour Sensational Matte Lipstick Collection.
Next is this Mac’s Matte Lipstick in the shade “Fashion Revival”. This is the first dark lipstick I bought when I was into vampy lip colour.
Even though it’s a matte formulation but it’s very comfortable to wear. The only down side about this lipstick is that it always smear under my lips whenever I wear it. I don’t know why but it always happens so yeah. 🙁 overall a great lipstick and very fall/winter appropriate.
A berry shade that last on my lips for quite long. At first when I wanted to get a dark lip colour I was too afraid to go full out and the sales lady actually recommended this colour. Absolutely love it & I always get a lot of compliments when I wear this shade. A colour that will compliments a lot of skin tone too! 🙂
I got this lipstick this year during autumn. It’s the Mac’s Satin Lipstick in the shade “Retro.” Most of my lipsticks are matte formula because I am not quite into shiny lipsticks. But this season my lips has been super chapped and dry. Most of my matte lipsticks looks disgusting on my dry lips so I thought it’ll be a good time to try out other formulations.
It definitely has some red undertone to it and also one of my favourite formulation. Very comfortable on the lips and last fairly long as well. Another colour that will suit a lot of skin tone as well. 😀 If you have dry chapped lips I definitely recommend looking for satin lipsticks. Not too shiny and the pigmentation is great as well.
Of course & not surprising! This post will not be complete without Mac’s Ruby Woo! If you don’t know already this is like my go to lipstick especially during the evening. So happy I got it & I fell in love even more every time I wear it. 🙂
This is under their Retro Matte formula so it is more drying than the Matte formulation. Surprisingly it doesn’t enhance my dry patches and it is actually quite comfortable to wear. It last on my lips super long and survive perfectly after a meal. If you don’t like to go to the toilet to touch up during events I definitely recommend this lipstick. Something that you put on and don’t have to worry about smearing all over the place. 🙂
This was actually kind of an impulse buy. Because I like how it looks on the sales lady & asked her which shade she was wearing. It’s the Kiko Milano Lipstick but I am not sure what shade this is in. 🙁 It’s not written in the packaging.
I am not too sure what formulation it is but it’s super shiny. It’s brown in colour but not very pigmented on the lips. I don’t think it looks flattering on my lips alone so I always pair it with the Kiko Enigma Lip Pencil in the shade “Matita Labbra 04.”
Now onto liquid lipsticks! I’ve been waiting for my local Nyx store to carry the Liquid Suede Collection & finally they have them last year. So I quickly got the shade “Vintage.” This is by far the darkest lip colour I ever owned. I did not wear this too often because I am still not very comfortable with wearing super dark colours but overall a very pretty shade. Definitely gives off the edgy & gothic vibe.
Takes quite some time to dry on my lips and it’s a little sticky once it dries. Overall I really love this colour but for some reason I don’t gravitate a lot towards this colour. Only on days when I feel bold which is once in a blue moon. 😛
I mentioned this in my “Products I regret buying” post but I decided to give it another try. It’s the Colourpop’s Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick in the shade “Love Bug.”
It’s a very beautiful terracotta shade but I am still not a huge fan of this formulation. The only way I can try to make this work is to layer lip balm underneath this lipstick. I really hope Colourpop will improve their formulation because a colour like this is very unique and hard to find. 🙂
So this conclude my fall/winter lipsticks collection. I hope you found this post useful and help you to decide on a shade that you have in mind. Have a great week ahead! 🙂
