Back from a week of vacation. Now I am back to my usual routine, so far pretty motivated to get this final month of the year going. Anyway, finally filmed a video of my night time skincare routine & in this post I will share more details on how I cleanse & prep my skin before bed time.
I’ve went through a lot of bottles of the original one (with the pink cap). Recently decided to give this one a go, it is for combination to oily skin. So far so good, but I think I still prefer the original one.
Usually when I come home the first thing I do is to remove my makeup with this Garnier micellar water with cotton pads. Then go on doing my thing for example catch up on vlogs/cook dinner/study.
Before I go to bed I take a bath. & this is the time when my night time skincare routine starts. I know in the video I did everything one go but it was just for the purpose of the video.
I take cleansing very seriously but also make sure that I do not strip dry my skin. It is so important to cleanse your skin well because you want to make sure you get rid of all the gunk & dirt that’s on your face so that your treatments later on can work more effectively. 🙂 I usually double cleanse with these two products, cleansing oil & follow up with a cleansing gel.
I’ve been using this Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil for almost a month now. Absolutely in love! I will soon do a more in depth review on this product. But overall this is the best cleansing oil I’ve ever come across. Seriously, Kiehl’s never fails to disappoint. 😀
If I am wearing makeup that day, I take 1.5 pump & work it between my fingers before massaging onto my dry skin. If I am not wearing any makeup then I take 1 pump & slowly massage the product into my skin.
Then emulsify it with water for a few times. Instead of washing it off with water, I take a dry cotton pad & wipe off the excess product that was left on my face. This cleansing oil helps to remove the leftover makeup that the micellar water did not pick up. & I just feel my skin is cleaner this way rather than washing off with water.
I usually get this step done while I am in the shower. Because the steam helps to open up my pores & it helps the cleanser to work more deeply. This product is the mk Formulations AHA Facial Cleanser. Prescribed by my dermatologist, so I am not sure if you can buy this over the counter.
I take about a pea size amount, mix with some water & slowly work it into my skin. I then damped a cellulose sponge & massage it all over my face. I noticed by incorporating cellulose sponge into my cleansing routine, I have way lesser clogged pores & blackheads. Plus it is pretty gentle on the skin, just to make sure you do not scrub on your skin. Plus they are inexpensive, you can replace them every month for hygienic purpose. 😀
Note: for the first few weeks using this cleanser it made my skin super dry. Sometimes it still makes my skin dry too but it works effectively. So I kinda have love hate relationship with this product. 😛
If you have been reading my blog it is no secret that this is the love of my life. 😀 I typically do mask about twice a week, & it is the one thing I am looking forward to do after a long day. If there is a restart button for your skin, this mask is the answer!
Leave it on for about 20 – 30 minutes, & wash it off with warm water.
After I pat dry my face with a towel, I then go in with my acne treatment. This Differin 0.1% gel was prescribed by my dermatologist. I use it every single night before bed. At first my skin was very dry, but now my skin is used to it. 🙂
I recently only incorporated this moisturizer into my night time routine. I usually only use it in the morning. But recently the weather has been freezing & my skin started to get weird dry patches everywhere, so I decided to double moisturize at night.
This moisturizer was also prescribed by my dermatologist, so I am not too sure if you can buy it without prescription. In general, if you have sensitive/acne prone skin, I recommend using basic non scented moisturizer.
I put two drops onto my fingers, warm up the product & pat it into my skin. Inhaling the lavender scent calms my mind & helps me to prepare for bed time too.
