I think I started taking good care of my skin ever since I had acne few years back. I’ve been trying on different skincare as well as diet regimes & along the way I picked up a few tips & tricks on maintaining a good skin. Even though I still struggle with hyperpigmentations and occasional breakouts, but it was definitely way better than what my skin used to look like.

So without any further ado I would like to share what I’ve learned for the past couple of years. πŸ˜€

Cleanse well.

I cannot stress enough how important it is to invest on good skin care as well as practice a good skincare routine especially when you have acne prone skin. I am currently using this Exuviance Clarifying Facial CleanserΒ every morning & night. The only down side about this product is that it’s pretty drying when I first started using it. Once my skin get used to it then it’s fine. πŸ™‚

Tips: double cleanse at night because it definitely made a huge difference!

Treatments.

Over the years I’ve learned that my skin prefer chemical exfoliants than physical ones. & if you are new to the chemical exfoliant bandwagon/ if you have sensitive acne prone skin I definitely highly recommend these two products. They are not harsh on your skin & gets the job done very effectively.

I’ve featured this Mad Hippie Exfoliating Serum in other blog posts as well. If you have a lot of clogged pores/under the skin bumps definitely give this product a go. I cannot thank this product enough because it has improved my skin texture tremendously! πŸ˜€

This Skinoren cream is a product that I read on acne.org. You will not notice immediate result with this product unfortunately. It took about two months for me to finally see some results. But all in all a great product & helped lighten my hyperpigmentations a ton! I recently just ran out of a tube of this & had to ran to the nearest pharmacy to get another backup. πŸ˜›

Deep Cleansing Masks.

Mask time is kind of something that I look forward to do every week. I recommend twice a week if you have troubled skin. Some deep cleansing mask can be pretty harsh on your skin but not the one from Kiehl’s & Origins.

If you don’t know already Kiehl’s Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque is my all time favorite mask! If there’s a reset button for your skin this is definitely that product for me. πŸ˜€ This mask is gentle yet effective. My skin never fails to look calmer & clearer after using this mask.

Origins Out Of Trouble 10 Minutes Mask is another favorite product of mine. I use this when I do not have a lot of time doing my skincare/lazy days since I can wash this off 10 minutes later. πŸ™‚

Stay hydrated.

It might seems like it’s a no brainer but it is true! I definitely notice a difference when I am hydrated & when I am not. I try to drink at least 1-2 L of water daily. Wanna wake up to soft, plump & well rested skin? Drink plenty of water! πŸ˜€

Tips: if you are not much of a water drinker like me πŸ˜› I recommend small bottles like mine from Starbucks. I find myself drinking more water by refilling instead of 1 L bottle of water in a go.

Change pillow cases.

I cannot stress this point enough. I change my pillow cases once every week & definitely notice a difference. You spent at least 7 hours sleeping on your pillow cases every night & there are a lot of bacteria/dust/sweat accumulated on it. So yes, make sure you change your pillow cases often.

Wash your hands.

Make sure you do not touch your face throughout the day if you have that habit. & wash your hands first thing before you do your skincare routine. Our hands are often trapped with a lot of bacteria because we are constantly touching things like escalators handles/money/public transport handles & etc.

Diet.

If all else fail you might want to look into your diet as well. At one point I admit I was pretty obsessed with healing my skin/finding the root to my breakouts. It got me super insecure of myself & I started pinpointing every little details of my daily routine. Who knows you might be lactose intolerant? Maybe you should eliminate dairy for a few weeks & see how it helped your skin. & definitely cut down on junk food & fast food. Eat more healthy greens & fruits.

Tips: I recommend keeping track of your diet with a diet diary. Write down what you eat everyday & note down your skin condition everyday as well. If you are not much of a vegetables kind of person, try juicing. Incorporate fruits like blueberries, strawberries or pineapples with spinach. These fruits hide the “vegetables flavor” & you won’t even notice it. Plus smoothies are super high in antioxidant which is good for your skin. πŸ˜€

I hope you guys find this post helpful. I must say you shouldn’t be too obsess/upset on how your skin look even at its worst. I know it’s easier said than done but your inner vibe/energy definitely makes a difference as well. Stay positive & happy! πŸ˜€
